Barcelona are keen on securing Bayern Munich star defender in the January transfer window in order to bolster one of their weaknesses.
Barcelona in their recent fixtures, despite their results, have not been looking great. The Spanish champions on many occasions have completely turned off in between matches, struggling to do the very thing they are most famous for, keeping the possession. Also at times, the club has made defensive blunders that have tested Ter Stegen’s abilities or led to an opposition goal.
Spanish outlet El Desmarque reports that the Catalan giants are keen on improving one of their weaknesses ahead of the hectic La Liga and Champions League fixtures in 2020: the right-back position. Valverde has been actively struggling to decide the perfect right-fullback for the club, with Nelson Semedo, Sergi Roberto and Moussa Wague all sharing their minutes. The coach has even tried to play both Roberto (on the right) and Semedo (on the left) at the same time.
With no final decision made yet, the report claims that Lionel Messi has asked the club to sign talented reinforcement that can fix this issue. Bayern Munich’s star Joshua Kimmich is currently the favourite to join Barca, who are keen on signing the 24-year-old.
El Desmarque has reported that the Spanish champions are willing to use Philippe Coutinho to try and secure Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich. The right-back is one of the best players in the world in that position and has managed to have a fantastic display of performance with Bayern. Kimmich could be a valuable asset for Barcelona and his attacking style would suit the club very well.
Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin has been named as plan B if Blaugrana fails to secure Kimmich next season.
